love that necklace with the outfit, adds just the right amount of fancy to casual look. Those shoes are cute too, are they pumps? also what kind of lipstick is that, I’ve been looking for a plum color.
Thank you! They’re wedges. I’ve been in a big wedge phase lately. It’s from sephora, one of their name brands. I...

my sister...
I worry about her often. She’s so naive and expects everyone has good intentions. Often I see my younger self in her. It terrifies me. I do my best to help and guide her, but she doesn’t always understand these concerns. I love her and want only the best for her. I hope she can realize this.

my mom knows me so well.
I text her about that documentary and how it sparked my interest in midwifery and she responded with, “I already jumped to that conclusion after talking to you about your clinicals the other day.”
yeah… I’ve really enjoyed this clinical rotation so far.

Final Reflection
So I finished the documentary, The Business of Being Born, and although there were definitely points that I did not agree with, overall I really enjoyed it. I do think that women need to be more informed about birth and pregnancy. As a mother it is your responsibility to look into all options for your child. For instance there were parents at the hospital earlier this week who had no information...
Another issue...
The increase of autism, ADHD, ADD, and other issues detected in children along with a rise in the uses of medication during birth does have a correlation. BUT correlation does not mean causation. It is also possible that this is a result of the fact that we have better tests to detect such issues, or that we are actually making an effort to diagnosis them verses before.
I’m not saying that...
Anonymous asked: Ugh, seeing all these anons (which, honestly, probably comes down to being one or two people..) be so rude to you is making me extremely upset. It's your blog and you have the right to upload as many photos of yourself, your outfits, and your day. It doesn't make you vain and many people do it. Just stop replying to them, please.

Instant Gratification
I would argue that this change in the way women give birth cannot be entirely blamed on the medical community. But rather are a result of the changes in society and in patients as well.
Like RIcky said, Women don’t want the process, they just want the baby. I have heard many nurses tell me this as well. Our society has given us this idea of instant gratification, lacking any work. In...

Already a little annoyed by this...
The reason that pitocin and other drugs are typically ordered during pregnancy is because the bag of water is ruptured. Once that bag of water is ruptured after 12 hours the chance of infection increases dramatically. Therefore, the fear is that the mom may get an infection, which will quickly spread to baby via the placenta. So hospitals do their best to get the baby out so it is born without an...

Ada County vs. Canyon County
Clinical today was the clearest example of how different Ada County and Canyon County truly are. Economically, socially, mentally - basically in every area patients in Canyon County differed from those I have encountered in Ada (excluding the veterans’ hospital). It was crazy.
